Here's another member of our family. This is Simba. He is 8 years old. For an English Mastiff he is practically geriatric. Definitely over the hill. We got him when he was a mere pup. Carlie was only a couple of months old when we brought him home. All of our kids have grown up with him. They all have had to learn to watch out for his tail when they were about 2 years old. They would be just at the right height for his tail to smack them in the face if they didn't watch out! So they certainly learned fast to protect their faces.
Simba is otherwise a very gentle giant. He loves to lay around where ever we are. He has his particular route that he takes when its time to do his duty. He's pretty private about such matters. Otherwise, theres not much romping around. When he thinks he is getting human food, watch out for the long stringers that develop on each side of his choppers. For some reason he always has to shake his head about the same time.....so the stringers are a-slinging.
We love Simba and will miss him alot when he is gone. The vet is quite impressed how well Simba is doing. His joints are pretty good for his age. He could lose a little weight. He weighed in at 197 pounds about a month ago. Thats down from 210. So, we're working on it.

Ahhh - big 'ole Simba's on a diet? Sounds like he's doing good! Isn't he too cool with those sunglasses!
