Living History

I hope everyone had a wonderful Happy Thanksgiving! Our family had a great day. We ALL slept in, which was about 7:30 - 8:00am. Then we all got ready for the day. I made spaghetti marzetti for my contribution of the Thanksgiving meal. We went to my in-laws for the day. They had alot of family over that belong to Phil (my father-in-law) One of his sisters and children and grandchildren, another sister -in-law and her children and grandchildren. My kids are cousins to these children, and it was nice to get the opportunity to get more aquainted with them. All of the people that came over are related to the man in this picture. He is Colby's great-grandpa. He is Phil's father. Can you guess his age? He is the one that is living history. He experienced Pearl Harbor so long ago. He has told my kids and me some of his stories about Pearl Harbor and what he went through with that whole experience. Very interesting and at the same time sad! The one part that has always stuck with me is how he had to sweep up body parts. I can't even imagine! He and Colby are the best of buds too. They get along just fine. He has been a new dimension for my children and I'm glad they have gotten to know their great-grandpa. They are old enough that they will remember him when they grow up. After we ate and watched the football games the family said their good-byes. Then our family went home and we watched a movie that ended up being better than what I thought it would be. "Evan Almighty" It was pretty good. My older two children laughed right out loud in several spots. It was almost too intense in a couple of parts for Colby. But all-in-all he liked it too. We all went to bed after that dreaming of what we were going to do the next day..........the fishhouse parade!.......

It is neat that your kids get to know great grandparents. They have 2 they will remember. You kids knew 4 great grandmas and 1 great grandpa or maybe 2 because you remember my dad. Mom O.
