So for our family we have a yearly Christmas tradition. The Sunday after Thanksgiving we go to a Christmas tree farm about 5 minutes away from our house and we pick out our Christmas tree. The kids love doing this and its fun to watch them find the perfect tree. This year we went with Grandpa, Grandma and Great-Grandpa.
We drive around for awhile and then we get out and walk around too. There are many trees to pick from. Here Calvin and Carlie are contemplating this tree. We have to make sure the trunk is pretty straight so when we get it home it won't fall over.
Here's the hard workers hauling our prized Christmas tree to the truck. We all piled in our vehicles and piled our Christmas trees in the back of Grandpa's truck. Great-Grandpa suprised us and paid for our tree. He said, "Merry Christmas, it's my present for you." Of course we all said thank-you. Off we went to the grandparent's house. We got there and to our surprise our Christmas tree wasn't there. It fell out of the truck. Grandpa told us, "You better hurry! You better get back on the road and find your tree" So, Randy and I retraced our route all the way back to the Christmas tree farm. We did not find it. Someone STOLE our Christmas tree that quick! We couldn't believe it! So, we drove back into the Christmas tree farm, and in one minute we picked out another tree. We cut it down, paid for it and hauled it home. Don't have pictures of the finished product. That will come soon. All in all it was a fun but strange day! We just couldn't believe that our tree was picked up that quick. We hope it was an answer to a child's prayer hoping for a Christmas tree this year.......
This tree was one that Colby picked. He really, really loved this tree. We just about got it too, but the trunk wasn't straight. It was a little small too. Colby was very sad when we decided we should keep looking.
What a sweet picture. There are baby trees too. It was a sunny day, but it was very cold. It was a very gusty day too. The wind made it feel even colder.
Well, after about 30-45 minutes, we finally found the perfect tree. Before cutting our tree, Calvin helped the grandparents cut down their tree. So it was Carlie's turn to cut down our tree. She was determined to do it all by herself. Randy got it started for her and she had lots of energy for about 45 seconds. She started to realize quite quick that its kinda hard to cut a tree down.
Calvin helped just a little bit, but then Carlie went back to cutting the tree. The tree is just about down. Carlie is assessing the situation. Its sooooo close.
TIMBER!!!! Carlie did it. I was pretty proud of her determination. When she puts her mind to something, it gets done. Thats something I'm learning about her.....shes little bit like her Aunt Doreen. She has the quality of determination.
