We are happy that this week is coming to a close. Randy had his shoulder surgery this week. Early Monday morning was when he was scheduled for surgery. Going into surgery Randy didn't know exactly which procedure he was going to receive. He figured he was going to end up with a total joint replacement, however, we were also hoping that he would only need a resurfacing on the ball of his humerus. We feel God answered many prayers, because Randy ended up only needing the resurfacing. He feels very fortunate. And we feel very fortunate to have such a great surgeon working with Randy. The surgeon did his research and he even did a complete different approach going into Randy's shoulder so that he didn't need to cut some of Randy's tendons. This is going to help Randy so he won't have as much restricted movement and his recovery time is cut down considerably from months to weeks. Randy stayed in the hospital until Thursday. We're glad he is home and he is feeling pretty good. Here are some pictures so you can visualize what a resurfacing looks like. The metal looks like an umbrella and it caps the ball of the humerus. Pretty nifty eh?
